Click on a video player screen with shift pressed to capture a thumbnail.

Add clips to the current playlist by clicking on the video player screen with ctrl down to mark the start of a clip. Then, click again with ctrl down to mark the end of the clip.

Combine shift and ctrl clicks on the video player screen to add clips and thumbnails.

Right-click on a video now have the option to write metadata to the file.

Multi-selected videos will show the action context menu if you have created actions.

We fixed an issue where, in some cases, when using icon mode, the video view was not scrolled to the correct item when you clicked a video thumbnail.

The clean tool can now move duplicated videos to a new folder instead of deleting them.

The repair tool now supports replacing a subpath. This function is helpful, for example, when you move a whole folder of videos to a new device.

You can now specify ',' or ';' as the separator characters for exported CSV files. You can find the settings on the general tab in preferences.

You can set the size of the companion image thumbnails shown in the companion image browser, check the companion image tab in preferences.

Companion images now also support long paths, i.e., paths longer than 260 characters. Long paths were previously only supported for videos.

Double click on a bin will now play the video, just like how a double click in the catalog view will do.

Loading and counting of keywords in the manage keyword dialog should now be more than twice as fast as in previous version.

CTRL-click on an actor keyword in the edit actor window will now remove the keyword without the "Are you sure dialog"

Bug and cosmetic fixes:

Command window popup should no longer happen when running actions unless you select that option.

Program hanged if you clicked next in the tutorial while the program was scanning folders for videos.

We fixed an issue with the playback and seeking of WMV files caused by the audio stream. The video just paused and did not play.

If you add a folder and have videos in the process queue, the list of added videos will skip the ones already in the queue.

' in Actor tags should work better now.

We now sort Extended property categories alphabetically, not just their properties.

Horizontal scrollbars did not work correctly in the companion and video catalog windows.

When you selected a video in the bin window, the first click did not update the keywords window.

Companion image browser now load images faster.

You can now have ten extended properties columns. Note that you must reset the layout to get the ten instead of the five.

We have added a new action argument to get the time in seconds from the start for the current video thumbnail ( This is the time format used in vlc ).

Fixed issue with searches for ranges on extended properties. The range did not disappear when the range checkbox was unchecked.

The autohide scrollbar is now a bit transparent to show text that it might hide.

Fixed issue with actor window and other windows not scrolling to the top when you change the search and get fewer results.

New features:

We added a new mode for the video thumbnail where you can edit the text to each thumbnail next to it. Select this mode from the Start menu.

When moving the mouse over the thumbnail in the video catalogwindow, you scrub though the captured thumbnails for the video. Doubleclick to play from that time. This is not accessing the video file so it will still work with disconnected videos.

When hovering over a thumbnail you now get a button to add a thumbnail in between that thumbnail and the previous/next. This should help you to quickly add more thumbnails where it makes sense.

Added a new huge, video icon mode. (Access from start or right click in the video catalog window)

Bug fixes:

For some width of the video catalog window it scrolled to the wrong row.

Fixed potential startup crash, Installer now includes the required crt files for the chromium browser.

Features and improvements:

Video Keywords can now have Parent keywords. Assign them from the keyword manager. Searching a parent keyword is the same as searching for all the child keywords. Parent keywords can also be used in exclude searches. Actor keywords do not support parent keywords.

The keyword manager lists the parent keyword of a keyword and the number of children a keyword has. You cannot delete a parent keyword. If you want to delete it, remove it as a parent from its children first.

Scene search can now group scenes to their videos. This option can be toggled from preferences on the user interface tab.

It is now possible to create new video keywords from the keyword manager.

When a thumbnail is selected, the video should now scroll into view.

We added a new option to ignore videos in folders matching a pattern. This option is useful when adding folders with videos where some folders contain preview renderings ( For example, .prv folders created by Adobe Premiere).

We added an option to ignore videos with a specific string in their name.

New option to include folders when filtering the file organizer file view.

If you select a folder in the file organizers file view, you now get the option to add that folder to be indexed.

If you now select a video in the file organizer that is not in the current filter, the video will still be selected, while in previous versions, it was not. I.e., it works similarly to selecting a video from the bin view.

When a video is selected in the File organizer, that selected file now scrolls into view.

The file organizer now has a new "Play" button to play videos that are not in the catalog.

Added a new file organizer option, "autoplay videos not in the catalog". When checked, the program will play a video file you select that is NOT in the catalog.

We added a shortcut to scroll to the selected video.

Fixes:

We have optimized startup time for large catalogs and general performance optimization for large catalogs.

Undocking the video thumbnail window would lead to all thumbnails being scaled to a minimum size.

Thumbnails in a thumbnail search are now sorted on video then on frame time before thumbnail id was used, and that might not be in order if thumbs are added or removed.

The volume slider was not set to the correct position when going to fullscreen mode (the actual volume was right).

Assign to bin from the context menu. Now select the assigned bin as the current one.

Adjusting the thumbnail window height when using the "fit" scale will now update the scale.

File selection in the file organizer is much faster.

Fixed issue in file organizer: The address bar was sometimes not updated when a folder was selected. This led to the file organizer switching folder if the window was hidden and then shown.

Actor dialog sometimes asked if you wanted to save even though nothing was changed.

Features and improvements:

In the search window there is now a drop-down list for extended video properties. The drop down shows all values that property has for videos in the catalog.

XMP extended properties are now sorted into folders based on their namespace, in the search window and the video details.

Smart Bins, when you create a bin now you can create it as a smart bin. A smart bin is automatically populated by a query. It works very similar to a saved search but you can have the search result window open at the same time as the bin result.

File organizer has been completely replaced.

When you select a video in the organizer a text tells if they are in the catalog.

When you select a video in the organizer it will be selected in the catalog.

When you select multiple videos in the organizer there is a button to select all videos in the catalog.

When a video is selected that is not in the catalog, there is a "add video" button.

When a video is selected that is not in the catalog it will play in the video player.

When you select an image, it will load in the preview window.

When you select an image that is in the catalog, a text will show which video and there is a button to select the video.

When you select an image that is not in the catalog there is a button to add it as a companion to the currently selected video.

Possible to drag video files from the organizer or windows explorer into the playlist provided the videos are in the catalog.

New cmd line option to add a video to the catalog.

Video player now has a right click context menu to update the start/end point of the currently selected playlist clip. (same as was previously on the right click of the camera icon).

Right click on a thumbnail now has an option to add x second from the time of the thumbnail, this was previously available when you shift clicked the add thumbnail to playlist menu item.

Fixed issues with reordering or adding video columns that had been hidden before in order.

Attract covers will not show the same image more than once, even if the same image was added to different videos.

API update: A few ids were returned as 32 bit numbers, which led to the wrong ids returned when more than 32k items were added.

Import failed if the opened catalog had zero videos, i.e. if you tried to import into a new empty catalog.

A folder named GPUCache containing temp files was created in the current folder. These are now created in the temp folder.

Features and Improvements:

We added a new feature that scales the size of thumbnails to show them all in the window without scrolling. This way of scaling thumbs is now the new default, and you can toggle to the old manual scale from the view menu. In preferences, you can set limits for the scaling.

Search has a "Filter on exclude keywords matching" to let you filter away videos matching specific keywords.

Preferences now have a new tab for "interface" settings. Some settings that were previously on the General tab have moved here.

Loading of thumbnails should now be a lot faster. At the same time, we removed the loading images.

You can now assign an action to run when you double click on a video.

Keyword manager now has an import and export function. Importing keywords allows you to import keywords from a comma-separated text file. Imported keywords are initially not assigned to a video.

The Keyword manager can now filter keywords on a text pattern.

Drag n drop of multiple videos from a bin should work better.

It is now possible to drag from one bin to another. Drag the video over the bin dropdown list and then to the target bin.

Added the option to provide login credentials for the windows share when connecting to a remote server. Credentials are only potentially used to play remote videos over the windows share ( or show companion images). If you need credentials depends on how you have set up your server and network.

We have added more icons for the View context menu and some preference tabs.

Improved handling of exceptions thrown from user scripts. In some cases, an uncaught exception in a user program caused a crash dialog popup in Fast Video Cataloger ( but not a real crash ).

Bug fixing:

We fixed a huge issue with the Attract video wall introduced in 8.05.

When in icon view the current selection was lost when a new video was added to the catalog.

We fixed one reason for failure in loading layouts.

The "Force Filename Title" option in preferences did not work correctly when extracting XMP data.

Fixed issue that could cause database corruption if the computer rebooted in the middle of some operations. ( and a reminder, always have a backup)

Timing for how long to display Attract covers images should now more accurately match the timing set in preferences.

We fixed a problem when rearranging video details columns that could cause a layout load error and the wrong columns.

We fixed a bug that you could not select a video from the context menu of a companion video in some cases.

Calling GetBrowser from a script could fail if the browser window was not open.

We improved error handling for the video catalog service. It can now be better to recover from unhandled exceptions on the service side i.e., more stable.

When switching between Detail and icon modes we now scroll to the selected videos. Before the program scrolled to the top.

The Actors list will now only match the first 1000 actors in a search. Before having a large number of actors in a catalog could make the update take a very long time or fail.

Fixed several rare crashes from crash reports.

Improved performance for catalogs with lots of extended properties ( you should notice a performance improvement when switching videos if your catalog has more than 1000 extended properties).

Added new option when auto assigning keywords from filename, the new option will only consider text inside brackets as keywords, i.e. [this text] or {this text}.

Add new sample scripts.

If you used a hotkey that was a plain key (i.e. no ALT/Shift/CTRL) and had keyword focused in the script console window the shortcut action was still executed. Now the character is written to the text window.

When updating multiple keywords in the keywords manager to set color, the first keywords text also got updated.

Metadata is now also written when multi-selecting videos.

If metadata writing fails because a file is locked by a program Fast video cataloger will keep trying. (this typically failed because the video was playing in the internal or an external video player).

Clicking on one video in the video catalog window when it was part of a multiselection did not change the selection.

When a layout was reset the Video length column was printed incorrectly as a date.

If you added keyword when creating a new actor in the initial dialog they were not added correctly to the catalog.

Add actor and new Actor was both listed as shortcut options, one did not work, Now there is only one working shortcut option.

Changing the width of a column by dragging the splitters did not get saved to the layout.

Added new general preferences to set the default clip start for video playlist export.

The window with the video player was allowed to have zero size, making it easy to lose the video player.

Added a new option to sort keywords on color or name (General tab in Preferences).

Added a new option to not use the GPU for the UI (General tab in Preferences). This is a workaround for GPU driver bugs, only use this option if you have issues rendering the UI. And if it helps, it is recommended you update your graphics drivers.

Added support for dropping a text file with keywords on the keyword dialog.

We fixed a bug where the render time settings in the add video dialog were ignored.

We fixed a bug with XML playlist export where one of the time formats was set wrong (this could lead to import errors in some video editing software).

Auto keyword improvements with New option to allow auto keywords to be integer numbers, new option to trim numbers at the start and end of keywords.

When you download using the web browser, it should no longer suggest invalid filenames ( This could happen for files served from servers with provided arguments in the URL ).

Ignore word list for auto keywords was case sensitive, not anymore.

Companion images can now be detected as covers if a part of the image filename sounds like a cover, i.e myimage-cover.jpg will be detected as a cover image. Landscape images are now preferred as covers over fanart images.

Improved rendering of thumbnails, it\'s now more compact. Also, the program will try to auto adjust the zoom to make efficient use of the space in the window.

Playlists clips now show clip duration

Column sorting now sorts numbers as you would expect (and not strictly alphabetical), including filenames i.e. a filename 1.mp4,100.mp4,2.mp4,200.mp4 will be sorted as 1.mp4,2.mp4,100.mp4,200.mp4).

Newly added videos are automatically placed in a special bin.

New playlist did not clear clips.

Setting the start and end of a playlist with the camera icons did not work correctly when no video clip was captured (shift pressed).

When adding the video list in icon mode, the list scrolled to the top.

Web browser now support a download queue. Max four files will be downloaded at the same time, the next ones are placed in the queue.

Drag n drop now works even if the file browser / bins windows are not open.

Playlists can be saved as edl text files (CMX 3600, but with full path to video files). Tested with OpenShot.

The actor dialog now lets you search with match all or match any (before it was always match all).

When the actor dialog is open you right click on text and get it straight into the dialog, as name, bio or link.

After downloading a file from the web browser, if you hold down shift, the next file will be saved in the same folder without showing a save file dialog.

Files being downloaded are displayed at the bottom of the browser with progress bar.

You can now access the video player from the scripting interface.

Create actor from downloaded image uses the folder name of the image as default name of the actor.
