Fast Video Cataloger Server is the server component of the Fast Video Cataloger product family, developed by VideoStorm Sweden AB. It lets a team share a single video catalog instead of each user maintaining a separate copy.
The server hosts a .vcat catalog file — the same file format used by the standalone Fast Video Cataloger desktop application — and brokers concurrent access from multiple clients. It runs as a Windows service so the catalog stays reachable around the clock, even when no one is logged in to the host machine.
Starting with version 10, the server includes a built-in HTTP server that hosts videos, companion images, and actor photos directly. It also exposes the full catalog API as a REST API and includes a browser-based web interface, so users can browse, tag, and upload videos without installing the desktop application. Access can be restricted per user account.
