What is new in Fast Video Cataloger 10.2.3
Fast Video Cataloger 10.2.3 is now available for download.
Captured DV tapes now keep the date they were actually filmed. A DV camcorder records a clock into every frame, and Fast Video Cataloger reads it while indexing and saves it on each thumbnail, so you can see when a moment was shot and search the archive by when it was recorded instead of by when the file happened to be created. A tape is also broken into the takes that are really on it: the new one thumbnail per DV clip option captures a thumbnail at the start of each recording rather than at a fixed interval, so a digitised tape arrives in the catalog already separated into its clips.
Working through a catalog is quicker in a few other places. The Actors window right click menu now works on several actors at once, so a whole group can be added as cast to the selected videos, or filtered on, in one step. The Bins window has the same Sort by menu as the video list, including in the icon views where there are no column headers to click. Indexing also picks up more of what is in the file, among it audio language and channel layout, bit depth, HDR format and the genre and director.
The release fixes a long list of issues as well, among them saved filters that only worked once per session, sorting on the path and color columns, keywords losing an underscore in the keyword tree, and the program stopping responding when an actor was dragged out of the Actors window.
