Describe your videos

A file name tells you little about what a video is or where it came from. Video Details is where that goes: a proper title, a rating, a description, a link to where it was published or bought, and the people in it. Everything you write here is searchable, and it is saved as you type.

Step by step

  1. Select a video in the Video Catalog window.
  2. In the Video Details window click into Title, Description or Link and type. The stars set the rating. There is no save button; changes are stored as you go.
  3. Pick a genre if it helps you, but keywords are the more flexible choice for most libraries.
  4. To add a person, right-click a scene that shows their face and choose Use image for New Actor portrait. Drag actors from the Actors window into the video’s Cast.

Need fields of your own, such as client, project or camera? Extended properties are custom fields you define once and then fill in and search like any other.
