2. Manual editing serverconfig.xml (optional)¶
Running the server setup program will create a default setup for the server.
When you run the server for production you might want to manually configure it.
1.[Provide the path to the video catalog]
2.[Provide the path to the root folder]
3.[Provide the path to the root file share]
Once the server has been configured the settings will be saved in a serverconfig.xml next to the server executable. The program will also create folders for videos and photo below the provided root folder.
You can edit the serverconfig.xml text file directly but will need to restart the server for changes to take effect. In the server config.xml file you can also select a custom network port that the server will use.
- Open the TCP network port 8000.
In the serverconfig.xml file you can select the port the server will use. The server port needs to be open for incoming and outgoing network traffic. Just allowing the server executable in the windows firewall will not work you need to open the specific port.
Here is how you open a windows port in Windows 7.

3.[In the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security dialog box, in the left pane, click Inbound Rules, and then, in the right pane, click New Rule.]
4.[Follow the instructions in the New Inbound Rule wizard.]
5.[The server is now running and should be able to communicate with clients]
