System Requirements

Fast Video Cataloger Server requires Windows 10 or later, or Windows Server 2016 or later. When installing the Windows server service you need admin rights on the machine. The Fast Video Cataloger client requires Windows 10 or later.

Warning

Do NOT put a video catalog on a Windows share without write protecting the catalog file. If two users edit the video catalog at the same time it will likely get corrupted.

Client Requirements

As a rule of thumb, any computer you normally do video processing on will be more than satisfactory, but to set the bar we recommend at least the following:

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Enough disk space to hold the catalog
  • i3, i5, i7, or Dual core processor

Software Requirements

When working with videos you always need reliable codecs. Most common codecs are installed with the program. When setting up a video solution for an intranet we recommend that you standardize on a video format that you first test and everyone then uses to minimize support related to codec issues. Local codec issues are by far the number one reason people contact us for support with the standalone Fast Video Cataloger software. For more details please look at the Fast Video Cataloger documentation.
